[This is old news from the 3x3 Eyes Info site. All links are broken, all speculation is wrong.] May 27, 1997New Anime Finally Coming to US?!
As promised, I announced the news in large letters on the main
page. ^_^ 3x3 Eyes NovelsI just got an email from Stanley Loke Man Kai, who is searching for 3x3 Eyes fans in Hong Kong. If you're a Hong Kong fan, send him some email. Also, he let me know that he found two 3x3 Eyes novels in Hong Kong, translated into Chinese. He says the original novels were written by Akinori Endo and based on the manga by Yuzo Takada. (Akinori Endo has written several anime screenplays, including Battle Angel, Armitage III, Five Star Stories, and -- you guessed it -- the original 3x3 Eyes.) Here is a description of the novels: The first book was published in 1995 in Japanese and 1996 in Chinese. It is named Legend of the Divine Demon, and it is a combination of the comic version from book 3 to 5 and the 2nd series of the OVAs.The second novel sounds similar to the "Red Rain in Malasia" story from volumes 8 and 9 of the manga, but Pai was not in the manga story so it may just be a loose interpretation. If anyone has more information about these novels or any others, let me know. Alec Empire = Otaku?I ran across an interesting post on Usenet a few weeks ago. Andy Gordon mentioned that Alec Empire's "The Destroyer" album had lots of 3x3 Eyes samples on it. If you've never heard of Alec Empire, he's a hardcore techno musician from Germany. He is also a member of Atari Teenage Riot, who are starting to get popular in the US. Anyway, I was intrigued, so I bought the CD in New York last week. Well, it definitely has prominent 3x3 Eyes samples, and it's definitely hardcore. Pretty cool, actually. For more information about Alec Empire and some song samples, check out the Digital Hardcore Recordings website. If you're shopping for techno CDs in NYC, check out this guide. (Two of my favorite stores are Strange? and Temple.) Oh, I almost forgot. The Silent Möbius movie soundtrack CDs have been released in the US. The music for Silent Möbius is by Kaoru Wada, who is also responsible for the wonderful music in the 3x3 Eyes anime. I got the first soundtrack, and it's very good. Besides, you don't have to pay import prices. (I think there was one more music-related thing I wanted to mention, but it has slipped my mind.) March 19, 1997I Have A Cool JobWell, it's actually only a one-year internship, but it's still cool. I will be working in the Patent Group at Omron in Kyoto, Japan. (You might not have heard of Omron, but they are a big company that makes industrial automation and related products.) The position begins around July 1, and I have lots of things to do between now and then (visas and such). I will have Internet access via Omron's corporate network, so don't worry about the 3x3 Eyes Info page not being updated. Hopefully, the page will be even better, since I'll be learning Japanese and actually living in Japan. I'll keep everyone updated on my plans, and if there are any 3x3 Eyes fans in the Kyoto area, I'd like to meet you. (I'm so happy! ^_^) Oh, I'll be living in the (very inexpensive) company dorm within walking distance of my job. When I read the description of the housing, I couldn't help but think of Here Is Greenwood. I hope my dormmates are normal. ^_^;; Ring Of The Third EyeThe people at OtakuWorld have started a Sazan Eyes WebRing. I'm not that big on rings, but this one seems to be pretty cool. (Did you know there are more Sailor Moon webrings than general anime webrings? My question is, why?) I figured that if there's a Sazan Eyes WebRing I might as well be on it. If you have a 3x3 Eyes web page, add yourself to the ring too! News From Toren SmithWell, as you may have noticed, there is no 3x3 Eyes TV series info in the latest Manga Newswatch. I contacted Toren, and he said he hasn't heard anything from Kodansha lately. If he gets any news he will be sure to add it to the Manga Newswatch page. He also mentioned that if the new 3x3 Eyes: Curse of the Gesu TPB sells well, he will be pestering Dark Horse to release more translations. March 1, 1997Buy It! Buy It! Buy It!Dark Horse's 3x3 Eyes "Curse of the Gesu" TPB should be in comic shops now. 'Nuff said. (Oh, and remember to write Dark Horse and tell them how much you like it!) More CD Single InfoHidano Yukinori was kind enough to respond to my query for information about the CD single I recently purchased. The song is definitely from the 3x3 Eyes PlayStation game, and the singer's name is Komori Manami (or Manami Komori if you write the family name last). Also, the title "Fight! -Saigo No Tenshi-" means "Fight! -Last Angel-" in English. Go to the News Archives for an index of past updates. |
