Upcoming Anime Releases From MGM

The Right Stuf website has some intriguing news in their latest update. Here's the quote:

MGM has announced that they will re-release Akira and 9 other anime titles on their Orion Home Video label on January 26. These titles have been on moratorium since June 1997. More information as soon as we receive it!

As you may know, 3x3 Eyes was one of the Orion anime titles acquired by MGM, so the anime may finally be available again in the USA. Keep an eye on The Right Stuf's news page for updates. For the curious, here is MGM's moratorium announcement from last year, which mentions 3x3 Eyes one of the last titles to be released by Orion. This would seem to explain why 3x3 Eyes #7 was never released in the States, and hopefully it will be included in the re-released videos.

1999 Calendar, Manga #30

The 3x3 Eyes My Poster Calendar 1999 finally showed up in Japanese stores at the beginning of the month, and those outside of Japan who were lucky enough to pre-order it are starting to receive their calendars as well. I hope to have some pictures of the calendar available soon. (I'm trying to take pics with my new digital camera, but the glossy paper is making it difficult.)

Also released this month was volume 30 of the 3x3 Eyes manga. The new storyline that began in #29 isn't quite as cheesy (or as new) as I originally thought. Translated chapter titles have been added to the manga translation page. (I didn't update the zip files added earlier this month, since only the chapter list has changed.) By the way, today is the 11-year anniversary of the publication of 3x3 Eyes, so go out and celebrate!

Dave Goes Home For Christmas

I've been living in Japan for 17 months now, and on Saturday I'm going home to the USA for the first time since I came here. I'm looking forward to three weeks of vacation, and I might even get some web page work done. However, I'll probably be slow on the email, so don't expect a quick response between Dec. 19, 1998 and Jan. 7, 1999. I may squeeze another site update in before I leave.
